Disney Pluto

Posted by admin | Disney Pluto |

Pluto (also known as Pluto the Pup) is an animated cartoon character made famous in a series of Disney short cartoons. He has most frequently appeared as Mickey Mouse's pet dog. He also had an independent starring role in a number of Disney shorts in the 1940s and 1950s. Pluto is unusual for a Disney character in that he is not anthropomorphism beyond showing an unusually broad range of facial expressions or use of his front paws at key points; he is actually represented as a normal dog (unlike Goofy who is an anthropomorphic dog).

This is a very good movie for Disney lovers with children (or real die hards such as myself). Several notes: This is a House of Mouse Christmas Special! If you've never seen the House of Mouse TV show you are likely to feel cheated. Several of the complaints here are that this is just a compilation of old cartoons and some new ones loosely tied together by a weak plot... That's exactly what the House of Mouse show is! So anyone who has seen the show is not going to be disappointed. Second, this isn't Once Upon a Christmas repackaged. None of the three stories from OUaC are even on this program. Last, several people conistantly have issues with Disney previews. True, the previews start but then you can either push main menu or chapter skip, either one of these will get you to the main menu really fast. Sometimes one or the other doesn't work but I've yet to come across a Disney DVD I couldn't skip the previews on. The catch of course being you do have to watch the Disney logo but the previews are so easily skipped I become frustrated with the complaint.

This was very cute. I really loved it. It's a must have in your family christmas dvd collection.

Mickeys magical christmas vcr tape was never received and and i have contacted seller twice now and nothing. i would like this taken care of either with the movie i ordered or a refund so i can order a different movie. thank you

Hello, I am writing this because my kids love this and ask for it (specifically Mickey's version of the Nutcracker). Kids, in general, do not care about whether or not the dvd is truly feature length, they just want to watch it. This is aimed at children. I think we, as adults, would do well to follow their lead in attitudes sometimes. The video is entertaining and has the classics characters from Disney. We as a family love Disney and this video. Merry Christmas!

hello Disney Fans. I am wondering if anyone has ever seen the holiday short about Goofy learning to ski. It was a great little narrated short that I saw when I was a kid. I saw it on television way back when and it was tagged along with a couple of other holiday shorts to a broadcast of the classic "Mickey's Christmas Carol". I have been reading reviews and dvd discriptions on here for an hour and I cannot find anything that mentions this particular short. If anyone knows if it is even available on any of these disney dvd's and if so which one. Please email me and let me know, Thanks. my email address is ryback78@hotmail.com

These Disney VHS cartoons were released in the 1980s, and I fondly remember renting the series many times from the local video shop. This particular tape is focused on Pluto and his exploits with the Disney gang. An excellent collection, which hopefully Disney will release on DVD along with others in the Cartoon Classics series. Until then, look for used VHS tapes in the Amazon Marketplace and auction sites.

Two unnamed bloodhounds which are seen in the 1930 Mickey Mouse cartoon The Chain Gang resemble what would in later cartoons appear as Pluto the Pup, Mickey's pet-dog. Picnic, another Mickey Mouse cartoon from the same year features a pet-dog of Minnie named Rover. The same canine appears as Mickey's pet-dog in the 1931 cartoon Moose Hunt and is named as Pluto for the first time. From then onwards, Pluto has joined the Mickey gang as a permanent character.

His first comics appearance was in the Mickey Mouse daily strips in 1931 two months after the release of the Moose Hunt cartoon. Pluto Saves the Ship, a comic book published in 1942, is one of the first Disney comics prepared for publication outside newspaper strips. However, not counting a few cereal give-away mini-comics in 1947 and 1951, he did not have his own comics title until 1952.

Pluto has also appeared in the television series Mickey Mouse Works, Disney's House of Mouse and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He also had a cameo appearance in Quack Pack. Curiously enough, however, Pluto was the only standard Disney character not included when the whole gang was reunited for the 1983 featurette Mickey's Christmas Carol, although he did return in The Prince and the Pauper in 1990 and Runaway Brain five years later, and was also spotted in Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988. In 1996, he makes a cameo appearance in the Quack Pack episode "The Really Mighty Ducks".
