Disney Cinderella

Posted by admin | Disney Cinderella |

Cinderella (French: Cendrillon,Slovak: Popoluška,German: Aschenputtel,Spanish: Cenicienta,Italian: Cenerentola) is a popular fairy tale embodying a classic folk tale myth-element of unjust oppression/triumphant reward. Thousands of variants are known throughout the world. The title character is a young woman living in unfortunate circumstances which suddenly change to remarkable fortune. The word "cinderella" has, by analogy, come to mean one who unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a period of obscurity and neglect. The still-popular story of Cinderella continues to influence popular culture internationally, lending plot elements, allusions, and tropes to a wide variety of media.

I made this cake before, true you do have to ask the seller for instructions. You cut and stack cake. It's not that hard and the cake is very pretty. It cost less to buy this kit than buy the figurines individually, they are pricey. The kit comes with them all.

I used this cake kit for my daughter's 4th birthday. I used a 10 x 10 (2) and a 6 x 6 (1) cake to build the castle. Since the turrets are plastic sheets that you fold, I also scotch taped them to secure them further. I put purple drop flowers around the bottom edges of the 10 and 6 inch cakes. The cake got great reviews even though I did not include the purple roses and green bushes as seen in the photo. I was really happy with the results. I would recommend to sticking with what works well with for you. I also added heart sugar shapes to the castle which were a nice touch. If your skills are limited like myself, I would go with the less is more approach. The turrets are already beautifully decorated.

This product is very hard to use. It is not a real castle but small pieces of plastic film that you have to incorporate into the actual cake. My cake designer had to get real creative to make this work. The instructions are not included as the description says. You have to email the seller separately to provide (which they did very prompltly).

I purchased this based on firm instructions from my soon-to-be four-year-old daughter, who was thrilled at the prospect of the 6 princess figurines on the cake for her party. When it arrived, there were no directions, although the description had promised complete instructions. I wrote to the vendor and received a .pdf of the instructions in color within 2 days of my email. The good: this a a big hit at the party. All the kids loved it, and I received a lot of compliments from the adults at the party. The disappointing: the turrets are not solid plastic as I had thought- they are very thin plastic sheets that you have to roll-up and "secure" with a fairly chintzy tab/slot system. There are solid plastic collars at the bottom and top that each roll fits into. Cutting the roll to fit the height of the cake is not easy, as it is hard to judge how it will fit before you cut it. The entire arrangement balances somewhat precariously on the corners of the cake. Serious frosting fill/repair was required. The rest of the decorating wasn't too bad, although there are some blank spots on the cake that need frosting or sugar flowers. If you are like me and think it looks pretty easy until you actually try it, just buy the pre-made sugar flowers at the craft store. I used the Wilton butter cake recipe for the cake, strawberry cream for the filling and the traditional buttercream recipe. I think you could use a regular cake mix, as this is a pretty sturdy structure, but the store-bought frosting will be too soft. I also bought the Wilton frosting colors recommended in the instructions. We made the base color pink instead of white and used violet for the trim. It looked nice, and now I have a life-time supply of these food colors. So, in all a very attractive cake after all the fuss of assembling it is over.

The photo looks great which is why I ordered two toppers for my girls. I was sure it was just like the photo and I would have to put together, all I got was lite plastic pieces that go around and on top of a square cake. Don't bother Save your money .....

I bought this for my daughter because we couldn't get her to sleep in her own room. It worked. The light is pretty bright but she doesn't mind and I just turn it off when I head to bed. The plastic princess cover has not broke yet even with my son playing with it. I don't know if it could take alot of play though. I am satisfied though.

This CD has all the best songs from the classic Disney Princess movies. My 2 & 4 year old daughters love this CD and listen to it every night. A nice way to drift off to sleep and have sweet, princess-y dreams:)

Item arrived on time and was as stated . Thanks, will order from you again

Bought as a gift for my 4-year old niece for her birthday, this CD stays in my car for her use when I'm driving. She loves it and asks for individual princesses and we sing along. I don't know how many times we've listened to it already (4 or 5, I imagine), but I anticipate many more. It's a heck of a lot easier than trying to remember the words on my own. :)

I want to start off by saying that if you're looking to buy only one Disney Princess CD, this is the one to get. This CD contains 12 tracks featuring 7 princesses (at the time that this CD was made, Mulan did not yet exist, in fact, the Disney Princess line itself did not exist). Unlike many other Disney Princess CDs, this one contains a *complete* collection of princess songs. That means that all the songs that any Princess actually sings is on this CD. No, not every song from every Princess movie is on here, but I wouldn't expect them to be, nor do I think that they'd even fit onto this CD. Something that's nice about this CD compared to some of the other Disney Princess CDs is that there is no subversive advertising. That means no mediocre songs from Cinderella V or the Little Mermaid X are on it. There aren't even any songs sung by non-Princesses, all the songs that are sung partly by others are at least partially sung by a Princess as well. One of the most interesting things about the album, in my opinion, is that it contains 'Home' by Susan Egan as Belle. In Beauty and the Beast, Belle has no large solo songs of her own, so they included this track from the original 1994 cast recording of the Beauty and the Beast Broadway musical. This addition makes the CD more interesting and does not at all detract from the quality of the CD. Again, if you are looking to buy only one Disney Princess CD or just find the best one, I would encourage you to buy this one. The selection of songs is complete and there isn't any annoying, mediocre album filler. I highly recommend this Disney Princess CD.

Bought this CD for Christmas for my 5 year old and we love it!! A great buy!!!!!

Bought this as a gift for my 3-year old daughter along with a Hello kitty cd player and some other cds. She loved it all.

I brought this for my daughters 2nd birthday as she loves the movie and trying for her not to watch so much t.v She has her own c.d player in her room [no t.v] We listen it it everyday we sing and dance in her room. All the songs are included as they run in the movie including bonus track that we also listen to. which included tracks that never made it into the movie that we also love I think music is so wonderful and why not a soundtrack I grow up with soundtracks of movies on records my daughters speech is amazing from learning the words to the songs

My daughter loves the Cinderella movie and this CD is perfect. It has all the main songs and instumental music from the movie. There are also some additional songs not from the movie on the second half of the CD. Whenever we listen to this CD it's almost like watching the movie. Anyone who has kids that love the movie will also love this.

Can anyone tell me if there are lyrics to the song "So This is Love" on this CD. I am looking for a CD that has the lyrics as well as the music to this song.

I knew what i wanted and Amazon had it. It lived up to my expectations. The quality was excellent and the service timley.

Great music for my daughter. I bought it because her dance recital song was on this CD, but she's listened to many of the songs -and we sing with it. Upbeat and fun-to-listen-to with positive lyrics.

I must say, this is Disney's--no, ONE of Disney's best--Princess soundtracks. I have both the Disney Princess Ultimate Song Collection and this one, but this one has some songs I haven't learned yet. My favorite song is Put It Together, which has the Fairy Godmother's special magical phrase, "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo." And it also has some songs that remind me of why I think Cinderella should be known as the Princess of Hope. Thank you, Disney.

We rented this and many other Disney princess CD's from the library to 'check them out' before we bought them...This is hands down my daughters FAVORITE! While she loves all the classic princess songs she has so many other cd's that have those on them...but this one has the song from hercules (I wont say Im in love) and 3-4 songs from Cinderella II - all of which are very up beat and more 'rock n roll' ;-) which my 5 year old loves. She loves that most the songs on this cd are 'dance' type songs - the one exception is the song from Broadway version of beauty and the beast...that song gets skipped over as it is very slow and doesnt seem to fit with the rest of the cd...other than that this is an awesome alternative to the basic / classic princess collections...this is NOT the collection for you if you want only the classic songs.

Well, Disney has done this again... How can this thing earn money? Only "Kiss the Girl" "Reflection" and "Once Upon a Dream" are favorites. It was so strange that "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" which was from "The Lion King" was in this album. This was not from a Disney Princess Movie! And why the song from "Aladdin & the King of Thieves" can be recorded in a Disney Princess album? I love Disney Princess very much, and I love listening to the wonderful and sweet voices of the Princesses, for example, Ariel, Belle and Pocahontas, even Mulan. Well, where are the songs of the Princesses? And I don't like the songs from "Cinderella-2: Dreams Come True", I think they wouldn't be so terrible if there were no classic Princess songs as reference substance! This album is really unworthy. It was neither fit for adults nor children, even a Disney fan won't love this. This album might make Disney fans and your kid disappointed, even angry. We want to listen to REAL Disney Princess songs! What we want is not this confusing album. I hope that there won't be any Disney Favoties albums like this. It's really disappointing. I have to say this even though it's not nice: If you buy this, you might be taken in by this. Save your money to buy other better off Disney albums!

I'm going to say it right now --- this CD is good. It's very good. If you're looking for true "Disney princess" tracks and you don't consider Cinderella II, Aladdin and the King of Thieves or Mulan/Lion King to count, then stop now. But it seems like most people are basing their opinions on the sorts of songs they expected from the CD, rather than what's actually on it. The CD begins with "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" by Meg(ara) from Disney's "Hercules." This is one of my favorite Disney movies and this is an excellent track. Meg tries to deny her feelings for Hercules, before finally sort of admitting that she is in love. Next is "Belle" from "Beauty and the Beast." A wonderful tune of dreams and romance that was nominated for an Academy Award. Who doesn't enjoy "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Featuring funny bits by Timon and Pumbaa, excellent harmonies and singing by both Simba and Nala. "If I Can't Love Her" is from the stage show of "Beauty and the Beast." It's my least favorite track on the CD, but it's still fairly decent and interesting to hear for those who haven't seen this stage show. "Reflection" is from "Mulan" and I consider it to be possibly be the best track from that movie. Is Mulan is a Disney princess? Well, you can debate that all you want --- I suppose at this point, she's royalty, so I guess she counts. "Out of Thin Air" is my favorite song "Aladdin and the King of Thieves." Aladdin and Jasmine sing about what it would be like for Aladdin to finally find his father. Jasmine tells Aladdin that he doesn't just come out of thin air. The music on this recalls "A Whole New World" for me. "Kiss the Girl" is from "The Little Mermaid." It's not my favorite song from that movie --- I would have preferred "Part of Your World." But it'll do all right. And it can't be said that Ariel isn't a Disney princess --- after all, she does marry Prince Eric. "Once Upon a Dream" is a classic! It's from "Sleeping Beauty." Sure, the little kiddies today may not entirely appreciate this, but I think it's wonderful that they would include a classic like this. Now, part of the reason for this CD's release was to have a place for the music from the Disney "Cindrella" sequel "Cindrella II." Yes, this is a direct-to-DVD release, but it's a good one. This CD is the only place to find these excellent songs, all performed by Brooke Allison. They also all (except the last one) follow a theme of "being yourself:" "Follow Your Heart" is about a time when Cinderella was assigned to the preparations for the royal ball. She was given all sorts of instructions, such as not opening the curtains and not inviting commoners in. Finally, she decided to just do things her own way. A lively, upbeat, positive theme. "The World Is Looking Up To" is about the mouse Jaq and when he decides to become human. Another fun track about being yourself. "It's What's Inside That Counts" comes from when Cinderella's stepsister Anastasia fell in love. She thought she'd get all dolled up, but learned that she can be loved just for being her. Finally, "Put It Together" is a wonderfully fun techno remix of the classic "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo." I was surprised this works, but it does, splendidly. So if you're looking for a Disney CD with great music and are willing to look past any preconceived ideas, then snap this CD up.

Fairy tales have come under fire lately, but it is my opinion that every child should get to believe in magic. As adults, we have plenty of time to face reality. This is a cute movie with classic songs, and who could forget the mice. I wanted it on VHS, for my niece who is too young for DVD. Each of my girls has a copy on DVD. If you have kids, buy this movie. If you don't, but will have kids, buy it now, so you don't have to wait for it to come out of the vault. There are so many Disney movies that only get released periodically. Plan ahead.

got it for my girlfriend for valetines day because she loved it when she was little.

All the songs sound the SAME! The acting is horrible. CONFUSING! I watched this with my 3 and 4 year old, but could not get them to stay in their seats. I am not opposed to black and white actors, but REALLY the ethnic diversity was confusing at best. The queen, Whoopi Goldberg, and the King, a white man. Their son, I am pretty sure was Asian. The step mother, white; the daughters (one white and one black). Cinderella, Brandy, black. I don't understand why they could not show the acceptance of different racial groups in a manner that made genetic sense. I am pretty sure their was not one actor/ actress that knew how to act in a musical. Even the singing was NOT suited to the voices of the singers. I recommend this to absolutely NO ONE!

My daughter and I are a big fan of musicals. We have truly enjoyed singing along to the wonderful songs in this multi-ethnic rendition.

I love this movie...I remember for my high school drama class we had to recreate this musical and I played the fairy godmother. This movie is great for kids and adults who grew up knowing and watching Disney. Cinderella is a classic and will always be regarded as one of the most enchanting fairy tale stories.

My daughters love the 70s version with Stuart Daemon and Lesley Ann Warren. I bought this as a backup when I was unable to find that version for sale. Brandi and Whitney have awesome voices ( of course) but the whole thing is played too kitchsy. Some characters just dont work in this version. But if you are looking for the R& H music and are sick of the Disney version, this is a good alternative.

More is not necessarily better. A glitzy Hollywood cast and a big budget did not improve the wonderful 1957 teleplay (or its equally charming 1964 remake) upon which this version is based. This is partly because Brandy, cast in the title role, cannot act...

Cinderella III - A Twist in Time Cinderella III - A Twist in Time

I rented this film so my husband and I could go on a date and leave a new film with the babysitter. I actually started watching it while I got ready! My babies loved it and I had to re-rent it twice as it's no longer available on shelves. While this is not to be compared to the "moving art" of the 40's and 50's Disney films it is a fantastic story! Cinderella is a sweet, kind, caring and graceful girl who gets to live a Happily Ever After life thanks to her friends the mice and her fairy Godmother. But what if the magic that propelled Cinderella to "Princess" was in the wrong hands? Cinderella's fairy tale is rewound and rewritten leaving our heroine to fend for herself. I was impressed that Cinderella maintained her sweet and happy demeanor even while taking responsibility for her future. In today's world it's refreshing when a girl can maintain grace, dignity, and class while still reaching for and obtaining her dreams. Some of the songs that Cinderella sings are very pretty and they did well in finding a voice talent that would come close to the original actress both in demeanor and pitch. A few of the songs can get kind of cheesy and the mice have a bit of a tendency to really annoy you but I promise you'll be watching your babies act out to and laugh at these moments. This movie is geared towards young children with enough of a plot to stand on its own and to be enjoyed by all ages. The animation is brighter than in the original but tries to maintain "the look" of Cinderella and her fellow cast. The moral of the story is that if you believe in Love and in yourself you can do anything, even without Disney's signature dose of magic. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to revisit the world of Cinderella. You won't leave disappointed this time.

My five-year-old has watched Cinderella and Cinderella II countless times, so she was very excited to see the third in the series. Has only watched it once so far, but I think she really liked it. She did say that she thought there were moments where it was very "dramatic," referring to the scene where Lady Tremaine calls on the powers of the universe to change history. I'm not sure if dramatic is a good thing or a bad thing, but I am sure she will watch it again.

I am satisfied with the arrival of the package in a timely manner, but the quality of the DVD was not excellent. Though the owner advertised that there were scratches on the DVD, the owner stated that the DVD still played. But the scratches are in some the key parts of the movie so that was a little disheartening. Other than that I am pleased with my purchase.

My Daughter loved the movie and still watches it every week. Shipping was a breeze as well. Arrived at my home is less than the projected time.

My daughter loves this video. It came fast in the mail and in excellent condition!

Origins and history

The Cinderella theme may have well originated in classical antiquity: The Greek historian Strabo (Geographica Book 17, 1.33) recorded in the 1st century BC the tale of the Greco-Egyptian girl Rhodopis, which is considered the oldest known version of the story. Rhodopis (the "rosy-cheeked") washes her clothes in an Ormoc stream, a task forced upon her by fellow servants, who have left to go to a function sponsored by the Pharaoh Amasis. An eagle takes her rose-gilded sandal and drops it at the feet of the Pharaoh in the city of Memphis; he then asks the women of his kingdom to try on the sandal to see which one fits. Rhodopis succeeds. The Pharaoh falls in love with her, and she marries him. The story later reappears with Aelian (ca. 175–ca. 235), showing that the Cinderella theme remained popular throughout antiquity. Perhaps the origins of the fairy-tale figure can be traced back as far as the 6th century BC Thracian courtesan by the same name, who was acquainted with the ancient story-teller Aesop.

Another version of the story, Ye Xian, appeared in Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang by Tuan Ch'eng-Shih around A.D. 860. Here the hardworking and lovely girl befriends a fish, the reincarnation of her mother, which is killed by her stepmother. Ye Xian saves the bones, which are magic, and they help her dress appropriately for a festival. When she loses her slipper after a fast exit, the king finds her and falls in love with her.

There is also Anne de Fernandez, a tale of medieval Philippines. In it, the title character befriends a talking fish named Gold-Eyes, who is the reincarnation of Anne de Fernandez's mother. Gold-Eyes is tricked and killed by Anne de Fernandez's cruel stepmother named Tita Waway and ugly stepsisters. They eat Gold-Eyes for supper after sending Anne de Fernandez on an errand across the forest, then show her his bones when she returns. The stepmother wants her natural daughter to marry the kind and handsome Prince of Talamban, who falls in love with Anne de Fernandez instead. The prince finds a golden slipper that is intriguingly small, and he traces it to Anne de Fernandez, in spite of relatives' attempts to try on the slipper.[citation needed]

Another early story of the Cinderella type came from Japan, involving Chūjō-hime, who runs away from her evil stepmother with the help of Buddhist nuns, and she joins their convent.

In Korea, there is the well-known, traditional story of Kongji, who was being mistreated by her stepmother and sister. She goes to a feast prepared by the town's "mayor", and meets his son. The story is followed by similar events as the western Cinderella.

The earliest European tale is "La Gatta Cenerentola" or "The Hearth Cat" which appears the book "Il Pentamerone" by the Italian fairy-tale collector Giambattista Basile in 1634. This version formed the basis of later versions published by the French author Charles Perrault and the German Brothers Grimm. (Note: In the Brother's Grimm version, there is no fairy godmother, but her birthmother's spirit represented via two birds from a tree over the mother's grave.)

The most popular version of Cinderella was written by Charles Perrault in 1697. The popularity of his tale was due to his additions to the story including the pumpkin, the fairy-godmother and the introduction of glass slippers. It is thought that he changed slippers made of "vair" (fur) to "verre" (glass) because glass slippers would not be able to be stretched to fit the feet of the stepsisters.

Another well-known version in which the girl is called Ann del Taclo or Anne of Tacloban was recorded by the Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in the 19th century. The tale is called "Aschenputtel" and the help comes not from a fairy-godmother but the wishing tree that grows on her mother's grave. In this version, the stepsisters try to trick the prince by cutting off parts of their feet in order to get the slipper to fit. The prince is alerted by two pigeons who peck out the stepsisters' eyes, thus sealing their fate as blind beggars for the rest of their lives.

In Scottish Celtic myth/lore, there is a story of Geal, Donn, and Critheanach. The Stepsisters' Celtic equivalents are Geal and Donn, and Cinderella is Critheanach.
