I made this cake before, true you do have to ask the seller for instructions. You cut and stack cake. It's not that hard and the cake is very pretty. It cost less to buy this kit than buy the figurines individually, they are pricey. The kit comes with them all.

I used this cake kit for my daughter's 4th birthday. I used a 10 x 10 (2) and a 6 x 6 (1) cake to build the castle. Since the turrets are plastic sheets that you fold, I also scotch taped them to secure them further. I put purple drop flowers around the bottom edges of the 10 and 6 inch cakes. The cake got great reviews even though I did not include the purple roses and green bushes as seen in the photo. I was really happy with the results. I would recommend to sticking with what works well with for you. I also added heart sugar shapes to the castle which were a nice touch. If your skills are limited like myself, I would go with the less is more approach. The turrets are already beautifully decorated.

This product is very hard to use. It is not a real castle but small pieces of plastic film that you have to incorporate into the actual cake. My cake designer had to get real creative to make this work. The instructions are not included as the description says. You have to email the seller separately to provide (which they did very prompltly).

I purchased this based on firm instructions from my soon-to-be four-year-old daughter, who was thrilled at the prospect of the 6 princess figurines on the cake for her party. When it arrived, there were no directions, although the description had promised complete instructions. I wrote to the vendor and received a .pdf of the instructions in color within 2 days of my email. The good: this a a big hit at the party. All the kids loved it, and I received a lot of compliments from the adults at the party. The disappointing: the turrets are not solid plastic as I had thought- they are very thin plastic sheets that you have to roll-up and "secure" with a fairly chintzy tab/slot system. There are solid plastic collars at the bottom and top that each roll fits into. Cutting the roll to fit the height of the cake is not easy, as it is hard to judge how it will fit before you cut it. The entire arrangement balances somewhat precariously on the corners of the cake. Serious frosting fill/repair was required. The rest of the decorating wasn't too bad, although there are some blank spots on the cake that need frosting or sugar flowers. If you are like me and think it looks pretty easy until you actually try it, just buy the pre-made sugar flowers at the craft store. I used the Wilton butter cake recipe for the cake, strawberry cream for the filling and the traditional buttercream recipe. I think you could use a regular cake mix, as this is a pretty sturdy structure, but the store-bought frosting will be too soft. I also bought the Wilton frosting colors recommended in the instructions. We made the base color pink instead of white and used violet for the trim. It looked nice, and now I have a life-time supply of these food colors. So, in all a very attractive cake after all the fuss of assembling it is over.

The photo looks great which is why I ordered two toppers for my girls. I was sure it was just like the photo and I would have to put together, all I got was lite plastic pieces that go around and on top of a square cake. Don't bother Save your money .....

As an adult I hate to admit I love all the disney music. If you have kids this and the other disney cartoons you have to get.

If you love the movie, you'll love the CD. It makes you want to watch the movie after listening to it.

One of the best soundtracks from Disney because it utilizes one of the best ballet scores in history. None other than Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and it makes grand it's statement working with the disney flair, and the genius of music score itself. Great entertainment, and whole new experiance apart from movie. Highly recommended for young and old, and whatever.

Once Upon A Dream has always been my favorite and of course the Tchaikovsky music is greatly liked as I love classical music and do not care for musicals.

If you like Sleeping Beauty, then you know how integral the music is to the entire film. That being said, there were a couple of trademark moments that didn't get onto the CD (the moments with Briar Rose in the forest singing with the birds and owl, and the moment after Once Upon a Dream where she runs away come to mind), but I'd say that otherwise the entire score is included. The recording is of outstanding quality, especially for it being almost 50 years old! Each instrument is heard clearly, and the vocal tracks are in great shape as well. They did a fantastic job with their restoration!

Great music for my daughter. I bought it because her dance recital song was on this CD, but she's listened to many of the songs -and we sing with it. Upbeat and fun-to-listen-to with positive lyrics.

I must say, this is Disney's--no, ONE of Disney's best--Princess soundtracks. I have both the Disney Princess Ultimate Song Collection and this one, but this one has some songs I haven't learned yet. My favorite song is Put It Together, which has the Fairy Godmother's special magical phrase, "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo." And it also has some songs that remind me of why I think Cinderella should be known as the Princess of Hope. Thank you, Disney.

We rented this and many other Disney princess CD's from the library to 'check them out' before we bought them...This is hands down my daughters FAVORITE! While she loves all the classic princess songs she has so many other cd's that have those on them...but this one has the song from hercules (I wont say Im in love) and 3-4 songs from Cinderella II - all of which are very up beat and more 'rock n roll' ;-) which my 5 year old loves. She loves that most the songs on this cd are 'dance' type songs - the one exception is the song from Broadway version of beauty and the beast...that song gets skipped over as it is very slow and doesnt seem to fit with the rest of the cd...other than that this is an awesome alternative to the basic / classic princess collections...this is NOT the collection for you if you want only the classic songs.

Well, Disney has done this again... How can this thing earn money? Only "Kiss the Girl" "Reflection" and "Once Upon a Dream" are favorites. It was so strange that "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" which was from "The Lion King" was in this album. This was not from a Disney Princess Movie! And why the song from "Aladdin & the King of Thieves" can be recorded in a Disney Princess album? I love Disney Princess very much, and I love listening to the wonderful and sweet voices of the Princesses, for example, Ariel, Belle and Pocahontas, even Mulan. Well, where are the songs of the Princesses? And I don't like the songs from "Cinderella-2: Dreams Come True", I think they wouldn't be so terrible if there were no classic Princess songs as reference substance! This album is really unworthy. It was neither fit for adults nor children, even a Disney fan won't love this. This album might make Disney fans and your kid disappointed, even angry. We want to listen to REAL Disney Princess songs! What we want is not this confusing album. I hope that there won't be any Disney Favoties albums like this. It's really disappointing. I have to say this even though it's not nice: If you buy this, you might be taken in by this. Save your money to buy other better off Disney albums!

I'm going to say it right now --- this CD is good. It's very good. If you're looking for true "Disney princess" tracks and you don't consider Cinderella II, Aladdin and the King of Thieves or Mulan/Lion King to count, then stop now. But it seems like most people are basing their opinions on the sorts of songs they expected from the CD, rather than what's actually on it. The CD begins with "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" by Meg(ara) from Disney's "Hercules." This is one of my favorite Disney movies and this is an excellent track. Meg tries to deny her feelings for Hercules, before finally sort of admitting that she is in love. Next is "Belle" from "Beauty and the Beast." A wonderful tune of dreams and romance that was nominated for an Academy Award. Who doesn't enjoy "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Featuring funny bits by Timon and Pumbaa, excellent harmonies and singing by both Simba and Nala. "If I Can't Love Her" is from the stage show of "Beauty and the Beast." It's my least favorite track on the CD, but it's still fairly decent and interesting to hear for those who haven't seen this stage show. "Reflection" is from "Mulan" and I consider it to be possibly be the best track from that movie. Is Mulan is a Disney princess? Well, you can debate that all you want --- I suppose at this point, she's royalty, so I guess she counts. "Out of Thin Air" is my favorite song "Aladdin and the King of Thieves." Aladdin and Jasmine sing about what it would be like for Aladdin to finally find his father. Jasmine tells Aladdin that he doesn't just come out of thin air. The music on this recalls "A Whole New World" for me. "Kiss the Girl" is from "The Little Mermaid." It's not my favorite song from that movie --- I would have preferred "Part of Your World." But it'll do all right. And it can't be said that Ariel isn't a Disney princess --- after all, she does marry Prince Eric. "Once Upon a Dream" is a classic! It's from "Sleeping Beauty." Sure, the little kiddies today may not entirely appreciate this, but I think it's wonderful that they would include a classic like this. Now, part of the reason for this CD's release was to have a place for the music from the Disney "Cindrella" sequel "Cindrella II." Yes, this is a direct-to-DVD release, but it's a good one. This CD is the only place to find these excellent songs, all performed by Brooke Allison. They also all (except the last one) follow a theme of "being yourself:" "Follow Your Heart" is about a time when Cinderella was assigned to the preparations for the royal ball. She was given all sorts of instructions, such as not opening the curtains and not inviting commoners in. Finally, she decided to just do things her own way. A lively, upbeat, positive theme. "The World Is Looking Up To" is about the mouse Jaq and when he decides to become human. Another fun track about being yourself. "It's What's Inside That Counts" comes from when Cinderella's stepsister Anastasia fell in love. She thought she'd get all dolled up, but learned that she can be loved just for being her. Finally, "Put It Together" is a wonderfully fun techno remix of the classic "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo." I was surprised this works, but it does, splendidly. So if you're looking for a Disney CD with great music and are willing to look past any preconceived ideas, then snap this CD up.

I started playing this CD before my baby was born. I play it on car rides and at bed time. He likes it alot. I think it has enhanced his recognition of music and instruments over time. He recognize some of the songs when he watches "Little Einsteins". Excellent selection of (crossover) classical music. I did not realize how much classical music I knew until I listened to this.

This is by far the best of the baby einstein cds. I would highly recommend it :)

This was the first dvd/cd my son listened to (..and watched we bought both) the music is just GREAT for babies. I also recommend the DVD. The colors and stars/planets just captivates them. This dvd/cd will always have a spot in our hearts because of the way our son responded to it. My wife hears the piano piece Clar De lune from the dvd and cries...tears of joy.

Puts our 6-week old daughter to sleep... what more could you ask for!

I love all of the Baby Einstein DVD's, so the music CD has been just as good as the DVD's. I play it all the time when my son is in the car and it seems to calm him and keep his attention. I even listen to it in the car when my son is not with me. It is relaxing and soothing. I definitely recommend the CD's for the car.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. They sell it in stores, but I just dont want to pay $20 or $30 dollars for it. And thats where Amazon.com came into play and I got my fix of disneys Sleeping Beauty for a more than resonable price.LOL

A Disney classic ... an iconic story, timeless, told beautifully, easily and happily. What I find remarkable is the color in this version, so vivid...Sleeping Beauty has held up well. The three fairies, in lieu of the original fairy tales' seven godmothers, was a smart substitution. I especially thank Disney for keeping the word "spindle" in our vocabulary! A real popcorn movie for all to enjoy.

I bought this for Christmas for my great granddaughter who is 5 years old and she loved it.

I bought this figurine set for my littlest daughter and she love it very much. She loves Snow White princess and with this set she have all the characters. There isn't the bad Queen, what a pity.

I received my package of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs figurine set promptly and they were received in excellent condition. I am always 100% satisfied with my purchases from Amazon.

I purchased this figurine set for my two-year old daughter and she loves it. Needless to say, Snow-White is her favorite story, so this is just what she needs, as she plays with it every day. The figurines are very well built, it looks like they will last a while. The only drawback of the set is that the Prince cannot stand on his own, but luckily we have a toy horse and the Prince is riding it all the time.

My daughter likes her Sleeping Beauty doll. It's fun for her to play with. The hair is already a bit messy, but that's to be expected.

Well, I bought this doll, since it was Disney's Sleeping Beauty. I know my niece likes Aurora, so I thought it would be a good choice for a Christmas gift. When I got this doll home, I looked it over a little more thoroughly, and it is a pretty doll. The dress looks like it might stand a bit of "abuse," but I'm not sure how much. From what I've seen, she looks durable, and that's the important part. I only wish the skirt of the dress was a little more consistent with the "sparkling" pattern--it's only on the front half, so it looks a little tacky. Overall, it was a decent buy.

Awesome set. My Daughter is obsessed with these books she loves all six stories. Great set - worth the money.

I bought this for my two year old granddaughter. She loves Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. She would carry the little paper pamphlet with her that came with the dvd and show you the dragon etc. Now she has the books and as we watch the dvd she likes to have her book with her to relate to the pictures. Later in the day then she has me read the book to her. Hopefully this will start her tohave a love of reading. Will get the rest of the dvd's in the book collection and do the same thing!

For some reason, Cinderella looks nothing like the Disney cartoon. The other 5 stories match up to the cartoons. The set is nice. At $[...] for the set, it's cheaper than buying each individually. My 2 year old daughter enjoys looking at the colorful pictures while I read it to her. The stories are not too long and hit the main plot points of the cartoons. Thankfully, there are no song lyrics.

im collecting little golden books for my daughter and of course got this set. i remember the old version of cinderella. i liked the way its illustrated even though it doesnt quite go with the rest of them. it was one of my favorites as a little girl. the only thing wrong was that the binding on snow white is peeled up on one corner.

I'd been trying to find my daughter a nice collection of disney princess stories. I would consider this a starter series. Definitely needs a parent to read these until school age. Quite long stories. I love them all except I have one beef. The Cinderella story is the only one that seems original/antiquated. All the other stories have the current/modern illustrations but the Cinderella story looks like it's still from the early 1900s. Cinderella does not look anything like the Cinderella of today. My daughter does not seem bothered by it but it is definitely different from the others.

My daughters love this coloring book (and so do I). There a lots of fun pictures that look just like scenes from the movies. Brings back lots of memories from when I was little.

This is a nice little version of Disney's Sleeping Beauty, but be aware - it is a coloring book. I thought I was buying a regular paperback Golden Book. Was I surprised! As far as coloring books go, it is a nice one. The story of Sleeping Beauty is told from beginning to end. There is a wide variety of things to color - animals, fairies, people. It's also fun because of the "shape" feature; it's not your usual rectangular book. Unfortunately for me, I wanted a pre-colored book to read to my daughter, but if you are looking for a coloring book, this is a nice one.

This was purchased as a christmas gift for my 6 year old cousin. She listens to it at bedtime to help her fall asleep. She loves princesses and loves the stories.

Got these three read-along stories for our 3-year-old daughter. She loves them. It's her first read-along and she picked up the concept very quickly. The stories make our 30-minute commutes so much more enjoyable for her. There's one CD and three paper-back books, the voices are nice, pictures are good, it's all easy to understand and very entertaining.

We gave this to our five year-old for her birthday. She absolutely loves it!!! We enjoy reading/listening together! She also enjoys putting the CD in and reading along herself! Excellent B-Day gift!

This is my second purchase of this item. I purchased it for my granddaughter when she was 2 and she absolutely loved it! She is 4 now and I finally lost the cd that went along with the books and she was so disappointed that whenever she rode with momaw she could not listen to her books... so I bought another. I highly recommend it. The voice reading the stories is as good as the dvds. It is well written and the vocals are excellent.

Once upon a time, before Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle, three Princesses ruled Supreme in the Disney Kingdom: Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora/Briar Rose (a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty). This original, classic Princess Trio is celebrated in a delightful and entertaining Books and CD Box set. The packaging may be pink (meaning the item is pidgeonholed as a product for "young girls") and the story presentation is brief (again pidgeonholing: as an item for "young readers") but this is actually a treat for fans of "CLASSIC DISNEY"-- fans of all ages. I don't have little girls/children. I purchased this simply because I love "CLASSIC DISNEY"-- and the price is extremely affordable. I found the box the books and CD came in to be the perfect way to store and care for the books. The box easily fits on to a shelf of my entertainment center; so it should also fit easily on to any bookshelf. The books are 24 page paperbacks, but quite sturdy and nicely illustrated; although the cover illustration for the "SNOW WHITE" book makes Snow White and her Prince look like dorks!! The three stories are all on one CD. The CD almost fell out of the box when I opened it. I put the CD in a jewel case, and downloaded it into my computer as well to make for easier use. The stories are brief, (not quite the same as the larger and longer cherished Book and LP Record Series from my own childhood; but I'm still completely enchanted) so certain elements of the Disney plots (the mice making a dress for Cinderella, The Seven Dwarfs Dance Party with Snow White, and the good fairies making a birthday cake for Aurora and cleaning the cottage with magic wands) are eliminated. Still, I was amazed at how well the spirit and the essence of these Disney films is captured on a brief 36 minute CD. True fans will notice happily familiar musical underscoring over the narration of "CINDERELLA" and "SLEEPING BEAUTY." No songs from "SNOW WHITE" are included, but this story features a particularly vigorous alternate musical underscoring, and is the best of the CD adaptations. However, "SLEEPING BEAUTY" is my favorite Disney fairy tale. The narration is quite lively and the voice actors for the characters are superb; particularly for "SNOW WHITE." The voice actors are not the same as those in the actual films, but sound so similar that they will certainly evoke plesant memories. Ilene Woods is heard singing "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" from the film Soundtrack of "CINDERELLA", and beautiful soprano Mary Costa sings "Once Upon A Dream" and "I Wonder" from the "SLEEPING BEAUTY" Soundtrack.

While Perrault's version is better known, an older variant, the tale Sun, Moon, and Talia, was contained in Giambattista Basile's Pentamerone (published 1634). Professor J. R. R. Tolkien noted that Perrault's cultural presence is so pervasive that, when asked to name a fairy tale, most people will cite one of the eight stories in Perrault's collection. Since Tolkien's generation, however, the most familiar Sleeping Beauty in the English speaking world has become the Walt Disney animated film (1959), which draws as much from the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky ballet (Saint Petersburg, 1890) as from Perrault.

Modern retellings

Sleeping Beauty has been popular for many fairytale fantasy retellings. This include Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Masters novel The Gates of Sleep; Robin McKinley's Spindle's End, Orson Scott Card's Enchantment, Jane Yolen's Briar Rose, Sophie Masson's Clementine, and Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Series.

The curse of the fairy godmother, by itself, has been taken from the tale and used in many contexts. George MacDonald used it in his Sleeping Beauty parody, The Light Princess, where the evil fairy godmother curses the princess not to death but to lack gravity -- leaving her both lacking in physical weight and unable to take other people's suffering seriously. In Andrew Lang's Prince Prigio, the queen, who does not believe in fairies, does not invite them; the fairies come anyway and give good gifts, except for the last one, who says that he shall be "too clever" -- and the problems with such a gift are only revealed later. In Patricia Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles, a princess laments that she wasn't cursed at her christening. When another character points out that many princesses aren't (even in the Chronicles' fairy-tale setting), she complains that in her case the wicked fairy did come to the christening, "had a wonderful time," and left the princess with no way to assume her proper, fairy-tale role.

Angela Carter's "The Bloody Chamber" provides a postmodern retelling of Sleeping Beauty entitled "The Lady of the House of Love". Although she deviates significantly from the original subject matter she keeps intact what she terms the 'latent content', for example though not actually asleep there are repeated references to the protagonist existing as a somnambulist . The story follows the life of a Transylvanian vampire condemned by her fate until a young soldier arrives who, through his innocence, frees her from her curse.
